My Philosophy on Custom Portrait Art and Answers to Your Questions :

It is my goal to create custom Portrait Art for you home that will become family heirlooms  to be passed down through the generations.  I believe that portraits should portray who you and your children are as people.  School pictures and daily snapshots show us what our children look like at various stages but your portraits should capture meaningful moments that are unique to you and your children.  It is my desire to capture those moments “that look” that he gives you that you can’t ever quite get yourself, the “way she crinkles her nose when she smiles.”  Theses are the things that make everyone in your family special and are the moments that make up your lives. I am unique as a photographer because my greatest gift is the talent to wait for the moment and to capture it as it happens.

If you are looking for a family photograph where everyone is dressed in their “Sunday Best”, posed and smiling at the camera then I am not the photographer for you.  I see nothing wrong with portraits like this, it is just not my style.  There are many excellent photographers in the area who are great at that type of photography and I would be happy to recommend one to you.

My style is casual and fun.  I like to let the moments happen and for the story of your family to unfold naturally.  If this sounds like the type of photography you are interested in please contact me to schedule your session.

What Can I Expect At My Photo Session?

Expect Fun!  Just think of me as a friend coming over to hang out and have fun with your family.  Your session should be about me capturing the precious moments of you and your family having fun together being who you are.  When parents tell their children to “be still” and “say cheese” a lot of stress is created for everyone involved.  Your session can be stress free as long as you let go and relax and let your children be who they are.  When this happens I will capture those moments and expressions that made you choose me as your photographer.

What to Wear At My Session?

I have a casual style so I would say to wear something on the casual side yourself.  Don’t wear your “Sunday Best.”  Those types of clothes won’t do well when I ask you to get down on the ground and wrestle or tickle your children.  Think more along the lines of jeans, shorts, khakis and long flowing skirts paired up with fun shirts and t-shirts, hats and funky footwear like boots and converse.  Make it fun, make it your own!  Many of my clients prefer a more traditional, casual attire of jeans and khakis with white or black tops and that is great too.  Just wear comfortable clothing NOT starched shirts, ties and slacks or tights and fancy shoes…you get the idea.

Newborns photograph best in their birthday suit, white onesie or diaper.  (Avoid anything with a collar, they usually end up covering half of the baby’s face.)  Do have special blankets to place the baby in and on.

One last note on clothing choices: Your portraits should be about who you and your children are not what they are wearing.  While clothing choices can add to the overall feeling in your portrait, it should not be the subject.  Your family should be.

When Do I Get To See My Portraits?

We will set up a viewing and ordering appointment to take place approximately 2 weeks after your session where we will sit down together and make your final portrait selections.  It is important that ALL decision makers be present at this appointment.  After you have made you selections your images will be placed online for 2 weeks so that family and friends may make additional orders.  You should receive your finished portraits within a couple of weeks but it may take up to 6 weeks depending on the nature of the portrait ordered and the time of year, albums may take longer.  I take the utmost care in delivering to you custom artwork that you will be proud to display in your home for generations to enjoy, that quality takes time to produce.
